At Easts, the growth of our girls’ and women’s programs has been one of the most exciting developments in recent years. As more women pull on the Beasties jersey, we’re committed to ensuring they have the best possible support, not just on the field, but in the science, knowledge and systems that help them perform at their best.

One of the most important areas that has historically been overlooked in sport is menstrual health.

Research suggests that hormonal changes across the menstrual cycle can influence energy levels, recovery and injury risk for some athletes. Understanding these patterns isn’t about limiting performance, it’s about empowering athletes with better information so they can train smarter, recover faster and perform consistently across a long season.

To support this, Easts Rugby is proud to be working with Clue, the #1 women-led period and cycle tracking app, built by women for women and people with cycles. Science-based, privacy-first and designed for every life stage, Clue helps people understand their bodies through cycle tracking, predictions and personalised insights.

Every Easts Women’s Rugby player will receive a Clue Plus annual subscription, fully funded by the Club and included as part of registration. Giving players access to advanced cycle predictions, additional tracking features, deeper insights and expert-led educational content to support their menstrual and reproductive health, on and off the field.

For our players, this kind of information matters. By understanding where athletes are in their cycle, coaches and support staff can have more informed conversations about workload, recovery, nutrition and performance. Some phases may support higher-intensity training, while others may require smarter recovery strategies.

As Easts Rugby General Manager Fleur Steinberg explains:

“At Easts, we absolutely believe in equality in sport, while also recognising that supporting female athletes means understanding the unique aspects of women’s health and performance. Acknowledging these factors allows us to give our players the tools they need to perform at their best. Understanding menstrual health is part of that. By partnering with Clue, we’re thinking about performance in more ways than one, ensuring our athletes have access to the knowledge, data, and conversations that help them thrive.”

For Hugo Marshall, Commercial Director at Clue, the partnership is also deeply personal. As a former Easts Rugby player, he has watched the women’s program evolve from the sidelines.

“It’s been incredible to watch the growth of the Easts women’s program over the years. The club has always meant a lot to me, being a former East’s rugby player myself, so being able to work with the team through Clue is something I’m really proud of. Easts has built an outstanding women’s program and is the first club in Australia to take this bold step — helping break down long-standing stigma around women’s health in sport. We hope this partnership sets the tone and encourages more clubs across Australia to follow.” ”

Women’s rugby is growing rapidly, and so too must the way we support female athletes. Partnerships like this help create an environment where players feel confident discussing their health, have access to better data, and can make informed decisions about their bodies.

At Easts, our goal is simple: give every athlete the tools to perform at their best.

With Clue bringing science and data into the conversation, we’re taking another step forward in supporting the next generation of women in rugby, on and off the field.
