280 of Easts Rugby’s biggest supporters, former players, club members and community leaders filled the Foundation Lounge above the clubhouse for the 2019 Easts Rugby Foundation Annual fundraising lunch on Friday 2 August.
Comedian Akmal Saleh, Toby Lawson (MC) and successful club players Jack, Angus and Will Maddox took to the stage, while The Three Waiters (in fact, talented opera singers posing as waiters) provided thrilling operatic performance a la The Three Tenors.
600 tickets in the BMW raffle were sold, with the winner drawn on the day. Hamish McCathie conducted an auction of items that included a private dinner at Red Lantern.
Easts Rugby Foundation Chairman Craig Smith said the funds raised contribute to supporting the rugby program with equipment, specialised coaching, team travel, touring and player welfare across all the Men’s, Women’s and Junior programs.
“Some of the focuses for the Foundation this seasons have included refurbishing our gym, providing GPS technology for the women’s and men’s teams, representative jerseys for juniors and importantly we continue to invest in the career and mentoring programs for men and women to ensure our Beasties are getting real-world support to make better education and career choices,” Mr Smith said.
“A hearty thank you to those who generously donated and purchased auction items and raffle tickets.”
