1st Grade v Sydney University L 12 - 22 Pauli Taumoepeau, Director of Rugby
We didn’t manage the wind and game scenarios well at all. For too many phases we tried to outmuscle Uni rather than playing some simple field position. The game didn’t flow for either side but University made the most of their opportunities and scrummed well in their attacking quarter. I thought our defence continued to be the strength of this team. Boys showed some great character to hold out some decent Uni raids. Don’t give up on us – we're in a fight, but nothing we cannot handle. MOM Rowan Perry.

Very good result this week earned through a very good performance. A tight first half saw us dominate possession and create a number of opportunities without being patient enough to capitalize on saw us go into the break at 7 all. Uni typically scored on their only chance of the first half so it was all to play for in the 2nd half. We turned our usual form on its head with an amazing 10 minute period to start the second half where we scored 3 tries capitalizing on Uni mistakes and essentially put the game to bed with 20 to go. Uni scored a late try but it was not enough to take the gloss off a performance that we have been building toward for more than a month. It was a good team win with the forwards laying a great platform (another week another tighthead) and the backs accurate and dynamic in equal measure. Bring on the derby next week and another crack at a top of the table team next week! MOM Bailey Hilder.

This was always going to be a tough game with so many players out or required for higher grades. The effort could not be denied but on the day we were just not good enough. We will continue to do our best to get into the finals and provide the most amount of points we can for the club championship. Bring on Randwick! MOM Jake Turnbull.
