Colts Match Reports | Easts v Manly | 29th June 2019

Ben Staunton - Director of Colts, ESDRUFC

1st Colts Easts v Manly W 37 - 24

A trip across the water was going to be a big challenge and the 1st Colts are starting to show their potential by producing a dominant performance and get an important victory. The whole team put in a massive effort and it pleasing to see them finish off opportunities and bounce back after falling behind to early tries. The control and game management was the massive improvement this week and we were able to lock Manly in their own half for the majority of the game.

2nd Colts Easts v Manly W 52 - 17

This was a tough battle and the score line doesn’t really reflect the effort that was needed to get this well-earned victory. It took until the last quarter of the end to finally put this game to bed with a number of late tries. What was pleasing to see was the patience and the will to keep fighting to the structure which slowly took all the energy out of the Manly forwards.

3rd Colts Easts v Manly W 24 - 14

What a scrappy and tough fixture, which was played away from Manly Oval. The major challenge for the 3rd Colts is sticking to what they have been doing well all year. This weekend fixture we got slightly frustrated with everything from the opposition and the referee. This was a learning curve for the boys to understand how to be calm and handle aspects that are thrown at them especially when teams are trying to throw them off their game. It was another bonus point win.

4th Colts Easts v Sydney University W 49 - 19

Friday night the 4th Colts were hosts too powerful for the Sydney University team with plenty of tries being run in in a physical competition. It was brilliant to see us have 21 players being involved in the game especially with a number of boys going away travelling.
