3rd Colts v Randwick W 10-5
Ben Staunton, Director of Colts
What a nailbiter with a fairytale ending! Playing a team on their own patch during a Grand Final is a big challenge and it took every ounce of energy and every second to get the winning try by Xaver Ryan who was swamped by the great club supporting fans. It was a tight game where Randwick took an early lead but after a while 3rd Colts were able to put some phases together and sneak over for a try. The biggest porblem was that we weren't able to keep hold of the ball and go through the phases to keep the pressure on them. After missing a long range effort for a penalty goal, the game went into extra time which looked like neither team were going to break the deadlock. The major thing was the effort in defence to get up and put pressure back on to Randwick. It was another defensive effort which forced an error and Xaver Ryan kick through and a pick up of the ball and a 30 metre sprint to the line. There were many supporters bouncing up and down while he was runnig to try line like they were watching a close horse race and wanting our bet to cross the line first. Massive credit goes to all the players and the effort they have put in over the season. It's always difficult when being Minor Premiers to win the competition but the bond in the group to fight for each other was the key to the their success. Well done to all people involved especially Peter Sumsky, Lachlan Sharp and Oli Sharp who helped coach, organise and run the team. So Proud of them all. MOM Jobe Brooks.
