Eastern Suburbs DRUFC are thrilled to announce Pauliasi Taumoepeau as the Head Coach and Director of Coaching for the 2018 and 2019 Season.
Pauli began his coaching career at Woollahra Oval following his playing years taking the helm of the 1sts Colts in 2014 and has taken 5 teams into the finals during his tenure.
John Murray, President of Easts said that “Pauli’s leadership and vast knowledge both technically on field and his mentoring off field make him the perfect candidate to take Easts to the next level and is the reason he is widely respected throughout the broader Rugby community. The board and I are delighted to see his hard work rewarded and look to the future with anticipation and excitement building from the great work Craig Morrison has done this year”.
And newly appointed head coach, Taumoepeau is definitely ready for the task ahead-
“I am extremely excited for the next season. I am ready for the challenge and would like to thank the Board for giving me the the last 3 years to grow into this role and giving me this opportunity, I look forward to making the Members and Sponsors of this great club proud.”
When asked what challenges he sees ahead Pauli said “...the first of which is obviously to get all teams back firmly in the top 6 every year. We have a good roster of talented young men who have a tremendous amount of untapped potential. We need to give the boys a platform where they are able to believe in themselves and can achieve their goals personally and then ultimately the club’s”.
Having captained Easts 1st Grade for 3 years, Pauli has a particular vision of what the club is about - “Easts to me is all about family and the club being a family environment - it has a significant personal connection to me, I grew up watching my older brother Sam play here, I played with my younger brother Afusipa in 1st grade and my son ran our team out on game day when I was Captain. These are amongst my most treasured memories and a big reason why this club is important to me and gives me all the more motivation to see this club succeed”.
The board would like to thank Craig Morrison for his hard work and dedication over the past 3 years.
